Privacy Policy
How PillPester handles medication schedules, reminder history and other information in the current Android release.
Effective date: 15 September 2026
Publisher: Daniel Joshua Harvey trading as PillPester
PillPester is a medication reminder and organisation application. We understand that information relating to medication and health routines can be sensitive, so PillPester is designed to minimise the information it accesses and keep medication information on the user's device.
1. Information entered into PillPester
PillPester may process information you enter or generate through use of the app, including:
- medication names and schedules;
- scheduled reminder times and reminder preferences;
- dosage information where the app supports such a field;
- Taken, Snoozed, Skipped or other reminder states supported by the app;
- reminder history, streaks and related activity information; and
- app preferences and onboarding state.
2. Where your information is stored
Medication details, schedules, reminder state, history and preferences are stored locally using Android app-private storage. The current release uses local Android storage technologies including Room/SQLite, DataStore and private application preferences.
PillPester does not require a PillPester account and does not upload medication information to a PillPester server.
3. Data collection and transmission
The current release of PillPester has no Internet permission and contains no advertising, analytics, crash-reporting service, remote endpoint, WebView or network SDK configured to transmit user information.
Medication and adherence information is processed locally and is not transmitted off-device by PillPester.
4. How information is used
Information stored in PillPester is used to provide features requested by you, including scheduling reminders, displaying upcoming reminders, recording reminder actions, maintaining history, calculating app features such as streaks or activity insights, and remembering your preferences.
PillPester does not use this information to diagnose a condition or recommend medical treatment.
5. Notifications and lock-screen privacy
PillPester requests notification permission because notifications are necessary for its core reminder functionality. The current release uses generic lock-screen notification previews to reduce exposure of medication information on a locked device.
6. Alarm and reminder permissions
PillPester may request Android permission or special access required to schedule reminders at the times chosen by you. These permissions are used for reminder functionality, not advertising or profiling. Removing notification or precise-alarm access may affect reminder delivery.
7. Device restart
Where Android permits it, PillPester can respond to device restart or relevant system changes so that future reminders can be reconciled and restored.
8. Backups
The current PillPester release disables Android cloud and device-transfer backups for app-managed data. PillPester does not intentionally store medication information in a PillPester-operated cloud service.
9. Data sharing and advertising
PillPester does not sell medication information. The current release does not contain advertising and does not use medication information for behavioural advertising or profiling.
10. Data retention and deletion
Information remains in PillPester's local application storage until it is deleted through available app functionality, Android application-data controls, or by uninstalling PillPester. Permanent medication deletion removes associated schedules and history managed by the app.
Because the current release has no PillPester user account or cloud account, there is no remote PillPester account containing your medication information for us to delete.
11. Security
PillPester uses Android app-private storage to isolate its local database and preferences from ordinary access by other applications. The database does not add a separate application-level encryption layer beyond the protections provided by Android app-private storage and the security of your device.
No application or storage mechanism can be guaranteed completely secure. We recommend using an appropriate device screen lock and keeping Android security updates current.
12. Children's privacy
PillPester is not specifically designed as a service directed at children. Parents, guardians or carers who use the app to help organise another person's medication remain responsible for determining whether its use is appropriate.
13. Medical disclaimer
PillPester is a reminder and organisation tool. It is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any medical condition.
PillPester does not provide medical advice and does not determine whether medication should be taken, skipped, repeated or changed. Always follow the instructions supplied with your medication and advice from your doctor, pharmacist or another appropriately qualified healthcare professional.
If you have questions about a missed dose, dosage, side effects, interactions or treatment, seek appropriate professional medical advice. Do not rely on PillPester as an emergency service.
14. Changes to this policy
If a future release materially changes how personal or health information is accessed, stored, transmitted or shared, this Privacy Policy will be updated accordingly. The effective date at the top identifies the current version.
